“The purpose of Delta Delta Delta shall be
to establish a perpetual bond of friendship among its members,
to develop a stronger and more womanly character,
to broaden the moral and intellectual life,
and to assist its members in every possible way.”
The Gamma Tau chapter at James Madison University was founded in the spring of 1998 as the 160th Tri Delta collegiate chapter. With the help of resident field consultant Mary Claire Alexander, Kentucky, and Ellen Zeringue, Tennesse, the Gamma Tau chapter was officially established on April 2, 1998. Having 152 initiates, Gamma Tau set the record for the largest charter class in Tri Delta history. Together with the help from Executive Office, and collegiate and alumnae members, four sets of initiation ceremonies were conducted and the beginings of Gamma Tau were successfully underway. Now, as Gamma Tau remains a strong chapter on the JMU campus, members past, present, and future continue to build and strengthen what the fraternity’s founders worked hard to create.
