Fat Talk Free Week!!!

We were thrilled to once again partner up with the Panhellenic Council and Operation Beautiful in our second annual Fat Talk Free Week! FTF Week is a five-day body activism campaign designed to raise awareness on body image issues and the damaging impact of the “thin ideal” on women in society. It’s designed to promote a healthy body, mind, and spirit!

All throughout the week, we had our sisters set up Commons Days where they did everything from handing out Dove chocolates, to encouraging other to “trash fat talk”. This is where people were given a chance to write down their biggest insecurities or body image issues they have with themselves and literally throw them in the trash! These days were also used to have others write down positive messages on sticky notes that will later be placed all around campus to brighten anyone/everyone’s day.

We were lucky enough to have Veronica Jones speak to our chapter as well as other sororities who were interested in hearing her message! It was eye opening too see how we all deal with the same pressure from society to look a certain way. Instead of giving into that pressure however, we should be comfortable in our own skin and stress others to do the same.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our events; we hope you enjoyed them as much as we did! This week may be over, but we should all continue to eliminate fat talk from everyday conversations. Never forget how everyone is meant to look unique in their own way!

Some of our sisters got up at 7 AM on Monday morning to paint the East Campus Rock!

Here is where everyone “trashed” their biggest insecurites!

One of the many thoughtful messages that will be spread around campus!
