During Fat Talk Free Week, we hosted a mini-Reflection’s facilitation program in our basement where women from all over campus were invited to attend. Tri Delta is partnered with Reflections Body Image program and we currently have sisters in the process of being trained to facilitate workshops that discuss issues with body image.
The night was a huge success. We had about 50 women show up last, and a lot of them were from other sororities. It was a great feeling to see that other women from the greek community be interested in hearing about our cause. Veronica Jones, who works for Student Wellness Outreach on campus and recently became our Faculty Advisor, gave a wonderful facilitation.
We had a great discussion about body image “pet-peeves.” We also went in depth and talked about how the media makes us feel as women, and things we can do to turn the “thin ideal” into the “happy, healthy ideal.” Everyone that attended seemed to get a lot out of it, and it was a great way to get everyone informed about what Tri Delta’s Reflection’s Body Image program is all about!
Thank you to everyone who came out to learn more about the Reflections program and take part in an open and authentic conversation about real issues. We hope everyone was left just as inspired as we were.
