The dreaded finals week is about to begin. This means endless nights in Carrier or ECL, numerous coffee breaks, lots of study groups and zero sleep. Obviously this week brings a lot of stress and frustration. If you are in need of some helpful advice or just want to take a quick study break, read a few tips our Academic Chair, Kelsey Jefferies has to help you out!
I don’t know how it happened, but it’s that time of the year already: FINALS! As we are all gearing up for the big week, I just wanted to pass along a few tips:
- Prioritize: With so many tests in one week, it’s hard to work on such a limited time frame without getting burned out. Make a plan to map out your week and see which classes need the most attention. If you are doing well in one but struggling a bit in the other, give yourself more time to work on the latter. Time management is key here*
- Schedule in study breaks. Don’t plan to study non-stop for the next five days. Cramming and pulling all nighters are not the way to get you feeling on your A game. You will only stress yourself out more and probably feel too fried to do well on exams.
- Exercise! This is a great way to release stress AND get ahead on that summer bikini bod. Even if you feel pressed for time, putting in a half-hour or so can do wonders for your state of mind.
- “Lighten your heart and you will lighten your load.” My horoscope told me this a few weeks ago and it has really helped put things in perspective. Worrying only adds unnecessary weight to your shoulders and stresses you out even more. Just think, this time next week all this stress will be gone and SUMMERTIME will have already started! Have faith, believe in yourself, and take it one day at a time.
We are all in the homestretch and I know it’s tough now, but your hard work will be rewarded soon. You all have worked so hard this semester, so don’t stop now! Make me proud, Gamma Tau!
Good luck with finals everyone, we know you will all do great!
