Gamma Tau would like you to meet our lovely philanthropy chair, Jessica Spiegler. Jess is a fun-loving and adventurous junior who has a passion for all things related to St. Jude. As philanthropy chair, she is responsible for planning and organizing activities benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Jess does a great job in finding simple opportunities to fund raise for the hospital. This may be through letter writing, a toy drive, and simply spreading the word about St. Jude. “It’s really rewarding just to watch my sisters and other JMU students get involved to help this organization. Every second counts, so I always have confidence in feeling like we are making a difference.”
March is Tri Delta’s St. Jude month so Jessica has been doing major planning to help us reach our national goal of raising $15 million in 5 years. We are hosting our eighth annual Triple Play softball tournament this Saturday, March 31st. It is open to all chapters on JMU campus. We have hosted a table on the commons every Wednesday this month with one more this week. Anyone can stop by to draw a card for a patient, write a letter to someone who may want to learn more about St. Jude, or pick up a flyer for one of our proceeds nights! With that said, we have hosted several proceeds nights at multiple restaurants in the Harrisonburg area. Our last one is this upcoming Thursday at Chili’s– all you need is to bring a flyer. Local hair salon, “Foilz” has been selling blue hair extensions available for purchase during the month of March benefiting St. Jude.
Jessica truly loves serving as Tri Delta’s philanthropy chair and has established even closer bonds with her fellow sisters along the way. “The best part of being philanthropy chair has been the opportunity to work closely with the other exec members. We really rely on one another to help get tasks done, and I have learned so many great new things about these other women.” Thanks for being an amazing philanthropy chair, we love you Jess!
